We currently have 34% mortality for corn earworm (=bollworm) moths exposed to our standard 5 microgram rate of cypermethrin (a pyrethroid insecticide) based on 312 vial tests conducted at the Tidewater Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Suffolk, VA in July 2026. This suggests that if/when an insecticide is needed for managing this pest, alternative chemistries should be considered.
